What's the process in booking an event?

What to expect when we arrive on-site

• STR personnel arrive at your home or set-up location approximately 60 - 120 minutes before dusk or scheduled event time.
• You provide level and clean surface with ample space for projection and sound equipment set-up.
• You provide accessible power within 95’ of the equipment set-up location.
• STR can provide a generator at additional cost. STR will set-up, connect power and test audio and visual equipment.
• For outdoor events start time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes after sunset.
• Event duration 3 or until 12:30 am for outdoor events. Additional time is possible and charged at an hourly rate of $56 per hour, billed in 15 minute intervals.
• At event close, STR personnel tear down, pack-up and transport equipment from your location. Typically pack-up time requires 60-90 minutes

Concessions

For those who crave authentic “movie style” popcorn with their entertainment, STR can also include our antique replica old fashion popcorn maker at your event. Don’t microwave or air pop! We’ll get the kettle brimming with popcorn the only way we know how, served-up in old fashion popcorn bags. Now you have the sights, the sound and the smell of the movies in your own backyard, an absolute treat for the senses. Popcorn packages start at just $85.

Don't forget the hot nacho chips w/ cheese, cotton candy, hot dogs and whatever else your taste buds hunger for! Watching a movie without a tasty snack is like arriving at your destination and not getting out of the car!

Travel Destinations

Whether your is in SE Michigan, Grand Rapids, Harbor Springs, Tawas or the Upper Peninsula STR can provide outdoor movie night event services for your group. STR also serves our neighbors in Indiana and Ohio. Performing events in South Bend, Ft Wayne & Bowling Green. STR logs over 8,000 miles every summer in performing outdoor movie night events.

A mileage charge is applied for all events located greater than 20 miles from Brighton, MI. For these set-up locations, STR bills at a rate of $1.50 per mile in excess of the first 20 miles for screen sizes 24 ft and smaller. This rate is increased to $1.75 per mile for the STR-32 screen program. This charge is applied based on driving distance to set-up location only (i.e., one-way).

For set-up locations in excess of 100 miles from Brighton, an additional overnight charge up to $140 may to added to the mileage fee. Travel charges are not subject to any special discount offers.

Weather Cancellation Options

If bad weather is in the forecast, our customers have the opportunity to request cancellation on the day of the event and receive their deposit back in-full. Problematic weather conditions include rain, thunder, lightning & high winds (sustained conditions of 15 mph or greater) which pose serious threat to event performance and safety. Our customer's have the opportunity to re-schedule their event to a date in the future if the screen is still available. We also encourage setting-up a rain date make-up in advance as a place holder. Weather cancellations are only available on the day of the event and must require agreement by both parties. Call time for cancellation will vary depending on the seasonal timing and location of event.

Cancelling an event due to weather after STR personnel depart for event location will involve travel charges accrued, These cost accrue at a rate of $50/hour from the time STR personnel leave the storage facility, billed in 15-minute increments. If the client decides to cancel after STR personnel arrival on-site, charges will be applied for the time required to drive to the set-up location and return to our home storage facility. If there are any associated "mileage fees" or supplemental itemized travel cost, this will also be charged as accrued expenses.

Cancelling an event due to weather after STR personnel arrive on-site and initiate set-up will be billed in full. STR's formal weather cancellation policy is available upon demand and included within our standard rental agreement.
